‘Bhavisyavani’ Book Launch

On a misty Saturday afternoon amidst casual and philosophical conversations and between laughter and squeaks, people were already starting to talk about poems and writings. The ambience was as lively for all the art and music lovers, very poetic to be precise. On the side of the stage were three books laid down neatly on a table, the to-be launched book of the day!

 
 
DREAMS online magazine launched “Bhavisyavani”, an exciting collection of selected poetry by 20 different poets at BAC Art Café, Pulchowk, Kathmandu on 9th July 2016, Saturday. The book is a final outcome of a worldwide poetry competition in Nepali language on the topic “Bhavisyavani” (Foretelling future).

The competition was organized last year making it open to youth aged 16-30. The journey of “Bhavisyavani” started in 2015 where 220 entries were received. The competition took its final turn on 27th August 2015 where the final 20 poems were selected and the poets recited their respective verses, out of which top three winners were announced. Gareema Rana, Laxman Kadel and Ramnath Khanal were successful to make it to the top and were felicitated with Rs. 50,000, Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 10,000 prize money respectively. These winners also shared their creations later during the launch.

 
 
 

While Aayesha Rai Gurung, a singer and a member of DREAMS team opened the formal program with her soulful singing; judges Sneh Sayami, Biplav Pratik and Netra Atom joined in the stage to formally unveil the book and introduced it amidst the presence of poets, art and literature enthusiasts.

 
 

Similarly, Keshav Koirala, the editor of the book introduced the idea of few corrections he made on the basis of the grammar and foundations Nepali language and, finally Mr Ojesh Singh, founder of DREAMS shared his idea of bringing dreams into reality. He stated that “Bhavisyavani” is one of many poem competitions to be organised by DREAMS in coming years. Although the team has to yet to decide on the title for the upcoming year, it will be something to with work or respect for work. He also thanked all the teams, institutions and individual poets involved in the competition for their immense support and patience.

 
 
 

The program lasted for two hours from 16:00-18:00 hrs was filled with excited faces with live music on the background. It had a leisurely and cheerful ambience, and a sense of content from the poets as well as the publishers.
